WAEC Releases 2024 BECE Results: The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the provisional results for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), covering both School and Private Candidates.
In a statement issued on October 19, WAEC indicated that the results for school candidates would be distributed through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education to the respective schools.
Examination Malpractices and Penalties
The Council reported instances of malpractices during the exam. After thorough investigations, WAEC’s Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee approved disciplinary measures during its 35th meeting on October 16, 2024:
- Subject Result Cancellations: The subject results for 377 school candidates and 3 private candidates were annulled. These candidates were found guilty of bringing unauthorized materials into the exam hall or colluding with others.
- Cancellation of Entire Results: The complete results of 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate were canceled due to severe violations.
- Withheld Results: The results for 33 school candidates and 3 private candidates were withheld, pending further investigations into suspected irregularities. Additionally, subject results from 149 schools have also been withheld due to reported malpractices. These may be canceled or released based on the outcome of ongoing investigations.

A total of 569,236 school candidates participated in the BECE, comprising 282,703 males and 286,533 females from 19,505 schools. This group included candidates with special needs: 59 students with visual impairments, 263 with hearing impairments, and 161 requiring other accommodations. The exams were held across 2,123 centers nationwide, with 3,845 candidates reported as absent.
The BECE for Private Candidates attracted 1,390 candidates (750 males and 640 females), who took the exams at 15 centers in regional capitals. Of these, 57 candidates were reported as absent.

- Receive the Results Checker and instructions instantly via SMS.
3. Online Purchase through Mobile Money
- Visit ResultsChecker.com.gh.
- Select BECE Results Checker and the quantity.
- Click Buy Now, fill in your details, and proceed to payment.
- Confirm the payment using the OTP sent to your phone.
- Receive the Results Checker details via SMS.
The released results provide candidates and schools an opportunity to evaluate academic progress and make necessary preparations for the next academic steps. However, WAEC’s actions also emphasize the importance of maintaining integrity during examinations to uphold the credibility of educational qualifications.
