Prof. Opoku-Agyemang Officially Unveiled as NDC’s Running Mate for 2024 Election
Opoku-Agyemang Officially Unveiled: The University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) Auditorium hosted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) unveiling of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the party’s presidential running mate for the December 2024 general elections on Wednesday, April 24.
Significant dignitaries, including the National Chairman, the General Secretary, the Council of Elders, and prominent members of the party, gathered at the UPSA to introduce Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
During her speech, Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang thanked the NDC for selecting her as their running mate, stating that it was “an affirmation of your belief in the capabilities of the Ghanaian woman.” She promised to be dependable and duty-driven in return for the trust placed in her.
Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang declared that if the NDC triumphs in the next elections, corrupt politicians of the Akufo-Addo administration will be held accountable for their actions.
To effectively tackle corruption, she underlined the significance of reaching a consensus and the necessity of giving institutional strengthening priority.
Focus on Governance and Economic Policy
The former minister of education expressed faith that the 24-hour economy that former President Mahama suggested would be implemented and that it would transform the nation.
She also expressed worries over the misappropriation of public funds and resources by unidentified parties through shady transactions, promising to protect public funds and maintain openness in any transactions involving public resources.
Aside from outlining the NDC’s objectives to assist women entrepreneurs, Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang proposed extending maternity leave and creating a Women’s Development Bank to help and expand women-owned enterprises. She stressed how crucial it is to give women the chance to prosper on their own.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, expressed confidence in Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s ability to restore legitimacy to the vice presidential office.
He emphasized how important her leadership plays in providing Ghanaians with comfort and hope and the necessity of honesty and reliability in government.
Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang received the endorsement of former President John Mahama, who emphasized the importance of leadership that fosters confidence and hope for a better future.
In tackling the issues facing the nation, he emphasized how crucial it is to place a strong priority on accountability, integrity, and the truth.

Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, a Political Scientist at the University of Ghana, emphasized the importance of providing practical solutions to the challenges facing Ghanaians in the NDC’s electoral strategy.
He emphasized that good government should be given priority and that policies should be relatable to low-level groups.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the North Tongu member of parliament, cited Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s remarkable career and groundbreaking accomplishments to refute doubts about her suitability for high-level roles.
He pleaded with Ghanaians to value her significant contributions over empty words and to acknowledge her accomplishments.
