Pius Enam Hadzide Promises Constituents U.S. Travel Opportunities if Elected

Pius Enam Hadzide, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Asuogyaman, has pledged to assist his constituents in traveling to the United States if he is elected in the 2024 general elections.

During a campaign event on Tuesday, September 10, Hadzide, who is also the CEO of the National Youth Authority, urged his constituents to support him in the upcoming December 7 polls, hinting that his victory could open doors for some of them to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the U.S.

Hadzide highlighted his background and experience in the sports sector as a unique opportunity for the youth of Asuogyaman, noting that he previously helped Ghanaians travel to Australia for the Commonwealth Games. He assured the crowd that, if elected, he would leverage his influence to create similar pathways for people in his constituency to explore job opportunities and educational prospects abroad.

“If you, Nananom, desire for your children to travel to America to work and send money back home, or if you are a young person eager to explore opportunities abroad, I promise to support you when I become MP,” Hadzide told attendees.

While this promise has generated excitement among some, it also reignited memories of the 2018 Australian Visa scandal in which Hadzide was implicated during his time as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. Several Ghanaians allegedly posed as journalists to gain access to the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Hadzide was suspended pending an investigation but was later cleared and reinstated by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
