GRASAG UG: July 13, 2024 – In a groundbreaking event themed “Building Whiles Battling: Academia and Mental Well-Being,” graduate students gathered today to address the critical intersection of academic life and mental health.
The Wellness Day event provided a comprehensive program aimed at fostering mental well-being amidst the pressures of academia.
Participants arrived and settled into their designated spots, anticipating a morning filled with enriching activities. Warm welcome remarks and a statement of purpose from Women’s Commissioner Aspirant, Miss Adwoa Achiaa Abrokwaah, followed.
Her address emphasized the vital importance of mental health in academic settings, resonating with the attendees.
Participants engaged in a rejuvenating yoga session led by Miss Mabel. The session provided a much-needed opportunity for attendees to unwind, stretch, and center their minds. Yoga, known for its stress-reducing and concentration-enhancing benefits, set the perfect stage for the day’s subsequent activities.
Wellness Day with a Focus on Mental Health
The highlight of the event was an interactive panel discussion featuring Ps. Sarah Brown a Midwifery Tutor and Mr. Terven Frank a Customer relation officer. The discussion, centered on “Building Whiles Battling: Academia and Mental Well-Being,” allowed for audience participation and a lively Q&A session.
Attendees shared personal experiences and received practical advice from the panelists on balancing academic demands with mental health.
Following the panel discussion and a water break, Miss Adwoa Achiaa Abrokwaah and Mr. Terven Frank presented a policy brief. Their presentation highlighted critical policies affecting academic life and mental health, offering attendees valuable insights and a deeper understanding of the systemic support available for mental well-being in academia.
