Chef Smith: GWR Denies Ghanaian Chef’s Claim of Longest Cooking Marathon Record
Chef Smith: In a surprising turn of events, Guinness World Records has refuted claims made by Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith regarding his alleged achievement of the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Chef Smith’s Announcement and Alleged Proof
At a press conference held at La Palm Hotel on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Chef Ebenezer Smith confidently announced his purported new world record.
He claimed to have set the record with an astounding time of 802 hours and 25 minutes of continuous cooking in Spintex, Accra, Ghana, spanning from February 1 to March 6, 2024. He presented a certificate to support his assertion.
Guinness World Records’ Response
However, Alina Polianskaya, a PR Executive from Guinness World Records, debunked Chef Smith’s claim in an email response to Joy FM’s Kwame Dadzie. According to Alina, Chef Smith does not hold the Guinness World Record title for the longest cooking marathon.
The current record holder remains Alan Fisher from Ireland, who achieved a time of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023.
Lack of Confirmation and Authenticity Issues
Further inquiries made by Graphic Showbiz revealed that Guinness World Records had no record or application from Chef Smith regarding his marathon attempt. Madalyn Biefield, the PR Manager, clarified that they were not aware of Chef Smith’s claim and asserted that the certificate presented by him was not issued by Guinness World Records.
Counterclaims and Alleged Validation
Despite Guinness World Records’ denial, Benny, Chef Smith’s manager, provided what he claims to be validation of their record to Hitz FM. This contradictory stance adds to the confusion surrounding Chef Smith’s announcement and the legitimacy of his claimed achievement.
This conflicting situation raises questions about the authenticity of Chef Smith’s certificate and underscores the importance of verification in world record claims.
