CAF Confederation Cup: Dream FC Trashed By Zamalek
CAF Confederation Cup: Dreams FC’s journey in the CAF Confederation Cup came to an end on Sunday following a defeat to Zamalek SC.
The “Still Believe” lads faced a challenging 3-0 loss at the Baba Yara Stadium in the second leg of their semifinal tie.
The outcome in Kumasi, following a goalless draw in Cairo, marks the conclusion of Dreams FC’s campaign in the competition. Hamza Mathlouthi kick-started the scoring for Zamalek in the 12th minute, taking advantage of a defensive lapse from Dreams during a set piece.
Fifteen minutes later, Samson Akinyoola added to the tally, doubling the lead for the Egyptian side and increasing the pressure on the home team. Despite creating some promising opportunities, Dreams FC couldn’t convert them into goals, allowing Zamalek to maintain a commanding lead going into halftime.
With hopes of a turnaround in the second half, Karim Zito’s men entered the field with determination. However, Mostafa Shalaby dashed their aspirations by scoring 15 minutes into the second half, extending Zamalek’s lead to three goals.
Although Dreams FC made a late effort to salvage a consolation goal in front of their home crowd, they fell short, ultimately succumbing to Zamalek and concluding their remarkable journey in the competition.
