Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity Programme 2025/2026: Fully Funded Study Opportunity at the London School of Economics

The Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE) programme is now accepting applications for the 2025/2026 cycle. This fully-funded fellowship is designed for leaders in social change who are actively working to address inequality. It is hosted by the International Inequalities Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The programme invites applications from policymakers, researchers, activists, practitioners, artists, and movement-builders worldwide.

Programme Tracks

The AFSEE programme offers two tracks: Residential Fellows and Non-Residential Fellows, each with distinct requirements and benefits:

1. Residential Fellows: These fellows will enroll in a full-time MSc in Inequalities and Social Science at LSE.
2. Non-Residential Fellows: These fellows will participate in part-time modules and will not be required to relocate to London.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

• Experience Requirement: At least 7 years of experience in advancing equitable solutions to social and economic inequality, demonstrating leadership, commitment, and courage.
• English Language Requirement: Must meet LSE’s standard English language requirement.

Residential Track

• Educational Requirement: Applicants must qualify for admission to the MSc in Inequalities and Social Science at LSE, typically requiring a 2:1 undergraduate degree or equivalent in any field. A background in social sciences or relevant work experience is advantageous.
• Exclusions: Applicants who have completed an MSc within the last three years, hold a PhD, or are currently studying for a degree are generally ineligible.

Non-Residential Track

• Flexible Requirements: Open to applicants with or without an undergraduate degree. Applicants with a 2:2 degree or higher or those without a degree but with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
• Inclusivity: The programme aims to include individuals from diverse backgrounds, especially those from historically underrepresented or marginalized groups.

Priority Considerations

Special consideration will be given to:

• Candidates from the Global South.
• Individuals from marginalized and historically underrepresented groups, including Black, Latinx/o/a/e, Indigenous, Asian, Arab, Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, refugee communities, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and others who have faced systemic barriers.
• Those who lack the financial resources to participate in fellowship programs or who have not had significant access to fellowships or scholarships.

Benefits

The Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity Programme is fully funded, with benefits varying according to the chosen track:

Residential Track

• Tuition and Fees: Full coverage for the MSc in Inequalities and Social Science.
• Living Stipend: £23,000 to cover living expenses while in London.
• Travel and Visa Support: Covers round-trip travel to London at the start and end of the fellowship, plus visa and related costs.

Non-Residential Track

• Programme Expenses: Covers all costs associated with the Postgraduate Certificate modules, including travel, accommodation, and visa fees.
• Project Grant: Up to £10,000 to support the execution of the fellowship project.

Application Process for Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity Programme

To apply for the Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity programme, candidates must complete the following steps:

1. Online Application: Submit the application through the LSE Graduate Application System by January 10, 2025.
2. References: Nominate two referees and ensure both references are submitted by the reference deadline, 5 pm GMT, January 17, 2025.
3. Upload Supporting Documents: Submit transcripts, a statement of academic purpose, a CV, and other required documents.
4. Language Requirements: Demonstrate compliance with LSE’s English language requirements (no need to submit test results before applying).

Important Notes
