AstraZeneca Vaccine Recall: Stop Speaking for the Manufacture. GHS Told.

AstraZeneca Vaccine Recall: Kwesi Pratt has unleashed a scathing criticism against the Ghana Health Service (GHS) for attributing the withdrawal of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to commercial reasons. Reports indicate that AstraZeneca is pulling its Covid-19 vaccine from distribution worldwide, following revelations of potential life-threatening side effects associated with the drug.

The decision to withdraw the vaccine was reportedly made in early March and took effect on May 7. AstraZeneca acknowledged the presence of a rare adverse effect called Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), characterized by the formation of blood clots that can obstruct veins or arteries, potentially leading to severe complications.

Despite these concerns, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, stated that the withdrawal was due to commercial reasons, citing the presence of superior vaccines in the market.

AstraZeneca Vaccine Recall: However, Kwesi Pratt vehemently criticized Dr. Kuma-Aboagye’s comments, accusing him of acting as a spokesperson for the AstraZeneca company rather than prioritizing the health and safety of Ghanaians. Pratt expressed outrage at the suggestion that the withdrawal was solely for commercial reasons, emphasizing the seriousness of Thrombosis and its potential impact on human lives.

He called on the Ghana Health Service to refrain from serving as a mouthpiece for pharmaceutical companies and instead focus on safeguarding the health and well-being of the Ghanaian population. Pratt’s impassioned remarks underscore the gravity of the situation and the need for transparency and accountability in public health decision-making.
