The 2024 Met Gala, with the theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” was no different, with celebrities attending in imaginatively created custom ensembles.

Star-studded attendees at the New York City event included co-chairs Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Anna Wintour, and others, all looking stunning in theme-appropriate attire.

Attendees didn’t hold back when it came to accessorizing, with ensembles ranging from glistening Schiaparelli to antique Givenchy.

Notable for her audacious style choices, Zendaya attracted attention in two distinct outfits: her personalized Margiela outfit and an antique Givenchy dress from the brand’s spring 1996 collection, while Jennifer Lopez chose a stunning Schiaparelli outfit.

The event showcased a wide range of fashion statements, from Doja Cat’s simple Vetements gown to Lana Del Rey’s shrouded Alexander McQueen piece hand-embroidered with thorny branches of bronze tone, evoking the overgrowth of a garden.

It was surprising and poetic that Doja Cat went with a basic white gown by Vetements with sparkly teardrops and a buzz cut.

The men’s avant-garde clothing also created a statement, with Chris Hemsworth looking elegant in a Tom Ford outfit that radiated refinement.

While Bad Bunny’s custom Maison Margiela costume and theatrical headgear displayed his sense of style, Wisdom Kaye’s all-red flowery ensemble, tinted with burnt edges, stood out among the crowd. 

While the event captured the attention of people all over the world, AI-generated pictures of celebrities who were not present, such as Rihanna and Katy Perry, began to circulate on social media, causing both confusion and amusement.

These photos, which had been digitally modified, brought to light the increasing impact of AI on celebrity culture.

With tickets estimated to cost up to $70,000, the Met Gala is a crucial fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in addition to being an extravagant event.
